MGI - Department for Mechanization of Crop Production - Department for Agricultural Machines

The Department’s main activity area is testing of machines in field and under laboratory conditions. Improvement of efficiency, testing alternative fuel applicability and tyre-soil-tractor-implement interaction related researches are considered as key objectives. Design, testing and development of unique agricultural machines and prototypes are also important elements of the Department’s work.

In case of agricultural machine and machinery examination (which can be qualifying or development-oriented performed jointly with manufacturers) the objective is to determinate work quality, energy and technology indicators.

Based on the experiences during the last few decades the NAIK MGI has worked out an internal standard with defined operation procedures for field, laboratory and endurance testing of agricultural machines and machineries and their interaction. These inspection protocols are continuously updated and harmonized with valid EU regulations, OECD codes and with the protocols of other international organizations (e.g.: ENTAM).

the Department takes part in the work of the European Network for Testing of Agricultural Machines (ENTAM) with the cooperation of other international research institutes and companies. As a member of the workgroup it works on development and dissemination of a standardized test method to define energy efficiency of agricultural tyres.
